Flag Football: Brandon Jennings vs Dorell Wright

This past sunday, June 2nd, was the rematch game between Brandon Jennings and Dorell Wright. Last year Brandon’s team took the victory. The rematch game was a good one – both teams had a lot of talent..The outcome was another victory for Brandon’s team. Who knows when the next flag football game will be though!

Nick Young’s Birthday

Drew League Week 1

It’s back!! The 40 year anniversary of the Drew League has officially begun! I am very excited to be apart of this amazing league with great people. Everyone from the staff to the players are a blessing and pleasure to be around. This year Nike is the sponsor and they did a great job of presenting a very professional atmosphere to the league. They have re designed the website, have created an instagram page and will continue to update on their facebook fan page. Nike has also brought their own photographers to take pictures of the action around the Drew. I am still taking pictures, but you can find my pictures here on my sports blog, and as soon as my website launches in June, you can find the pictures there. Enjoy the photos and please feel free to share them! Thanks again for everyone’s continued support. This is my 3rd season with the drew league and I am excited for an amazing summer.

John Wall’s Painting

A couple months ago, John Wall commissioned a painting from me. John was the number 1 NBA draft pick and currently plays for the Washington Wizards. He’s also an amazing player to watch in the off season – whether he’s playing for the Goodman League or Drew League. I was excited to start this painting for such a great player and a very cool guy. This month the Wizards traveled to Los Angeles to play the Clippers. John got me tickets and I headed down to watch him play. He has been injured for the majority of the season, and only started playing a week before he came to LA. I was excited to get to see him play live with the NBA. After the game I gave him his painting. Make sure you support John and his career – he’s a great guy. I am thankful that he supports my artwork! Who will I paint next?

Kobe 8 System – Venice Beach

This past weekend was the Kobe 8 System at Venice Beach. Kobe recently launched his new shoe, the Kobe 8. They were letting people come down to the basketball courts and test out the new shoe. Over 5,000 people were in attendance to see the Black Mamba himself. The event started at 12noon, and there were already people gathering all around the court. Through my work with Nike I was able to receive a press pass to this event, so I was excited to be apart of it. They had two obstacle courses set up that people would run through to test out the new shoes. There were some familiar faces helping run people through the course – including Venice Beach players, Drew League players, and local College players.

The fans competing in this course were being timed, and at the end of the day 4 guys and 4 girls would be selected to do the course in front of Kobe. Finally 4 hours later Mr. Kobe Bryant started pulling up. The Venice boardwalk filled with people trying to get a glimpse of the legend himself. Kobe finally made his way over to the court and the crowd greeted him with loud cheers and applause. The 8 people chosen to compete ran through the course and at the end 2 winners were chosen and got to take a picture with Kobe and get an autographed pair of shoes. Kobe then walked around to try and say hello and greet as many fans as possible. He came over to the Media section I was at and spoke with some of the media outlets. I snapped some great pics as he was standing there. He then headed back to his car and left.

Overall it was a fun experience and I was glad to be officially apart of this event! Check out my photos!

 

Drew League 2012 – Week 6

Because of my busy schedule, I can’t update too much about every game that goes on down at the Drew League. All I can say is that the games are very entertaining – whether there are NBA guys playing or not. I like to tell stories through my photography. I’ve had a great opportunity to meet all kinds of people through my photography and I am very grateful and blessed.

I will say that you don’t want to miss this Sunday down at the Drew League. It’s the first day that the NBA players will be back and playing. It will be a day of excitement for sure.

This weekend was extra special because The Basketball Channel came out to join the Drew League. They are kicking off a country-wide tour, showcasing all of the top summer Pro-Am leagues. They kicked off with the Drew League here in Los Angeles. They will be back on July 1st. You don’t want to miss that day – it will be a star studded event.

Also make sure to buy your tickets for the BIG EVENT at the Galen Center on July 14th. The Drew League will be playing their games all day and at night there will be a concert that you wont want to miss!!!
